A Century of Faith
First Baptist Church of Post, Texas, was organized August 24, 1907. There were thirteen members, and Rev. E.H. White was the first pastor. They met in a dwelling that was being used as a school. Sunday School was organized in 1910 and met in the new Court House at Main and Broadway. FBC’s first building was located at 10th and Avenue K, on lots that were given by C.W. Post. The first services held at this location were in 1912.
This church was never a reservoir of God’s blessings but a channel through which they desired to minister to others. The necessity of additional room led to a search for a new location. A structure was erected in 1939 at the present location. Since that time, two additions have been added to the church and a new parsonage was completed in 1952.
James T. Egan accepted the call to Pastor FBC on August 15, 2004 and is the current Pastor. Twenty-nine Pastors have served and numerous lay people have been called to ministry, as FBC remains: ON MISSION for JESUS CHRIST in 2008.
